Step One: Topic Selection 1500-2000 words
My Topic:
Despite the destruction in the Second World War, there was a major leap forward in the technological advances of our society.
I selected this topic because it gave me the opportunity to challenge my perspective on negative past events. Also, because it was a broad topic that would require recourses from many countries.
This topic would refer to History specifically.
The primary focus is based on historical, economical, and cultural. This is because it uses the information from the Second World War. Economical since the topic is majorly based on the economy and the cultural aspect comes from the opinions of each country.
K: I know that WW2: technology enhancement was greatly advances, changing the face of war and nationalism.
W: Who and how people came up with the technological advances.
L: From reading I know: Jeeps and computers were created; radar took on great advancements. War tactics took on a new role and the world was able to work more closely together from the new information trade: internet.
Three major themes that are pertinent in the topic: International advancements, Contact ability, War fairs. Most inventions made from the major players of the Second World War, this suggesting that war pushes a country to reach its max potential. Contact ability greatly rose since telephones became sturdier; this meant that the countries fighting could have better contact with each other. The war fairs took on the technological advances to show the new equipment in its height, this led to the save of lives of men “going over the top”
My two controversial questions would include my topic as why World War 2 was a good thing? Can the technological advances bring about peace? Does technology mean more or less war?

Step 3 Hypothesis

-Step 2 Writing Your Hypothesis
Despite the destruction in the Second World War, there was a major leap forward in the technological advances of our society.

Developing Questions:
Factual Questions
-Who was the person(s) responsible for the technological advances?
-What was the purpose behind the major advances?
-Which country made the most important/useful/memorable advances?
-When did the advances happen?
Clarification Questions
-What were these advances made for?
-Were they intended for public use?
-Why did this country focus on these advances?
Interpretive Questions
-Should some of the advances made (i.e. the Concentration camps medical experiments) be used in the public?
-Are we better off with the advances?
Inquiry Questions
-Do countries develop faster under the pressure of war?
-Should we humanize war toys (Jeeps, Radars)?

Step 3
Developing a hypothesis and research questions

Topic:
Technological advances in WW2

Overview of Topic:
In the war scene and general advances that is the reason why we have the advancements that we have today. Suggesting that without WW2 we would be no where near as technologically based as we are now. Pointing out that the advances made were greatly from the German scientists. Things like Radars, sonar, computers, jeeps and medicines. Radars are now used in real time for things like calculating storms and weather patterns. Medicine took on a whole new meaning when they could start protecting against venereal diseases and malaria. Health was a major advancement, since it was a great idea to target what the body needs most to be the best they can be. Food preparation and storage was a top study along with calorie counter to find out how many are burned so they can keep the soldiers at top fighting ability. Colosus- the worlds first computer was made by the britans to be used for code breaking.

Step 4

The technological advances provided us with previously unimaginable opportunities such as the possibilities for communication, improvements in medicine and adapting weaponry.

Argument 1: The possibilities for Communication
-Walkie Talkies “Applied to the needs of modern war, electronics solves major problems of communications and intelligence.”
-RCA Radios that allowed communication between soldiers and command bases and for homebodies
-Public Radios

-Colosses was the first computer, made by great Britain to break German codes. Credited with hugely aiding with the win of ww2.

Argument 2 Improvements\Start in medicine

-Penicillin
-Sulfa used to fight infection
-Atabrine used to fight malaria
-Developed understanding of plasma

-. Food preparation and storage was a top study along with calorie counter to find out how many are burned so they can keep the soldiers at top fighting ability

Agrument 3 Adapting Weaponry
-Weapons became semiautomatic and or machineguns to avoid having to reload after each shot
-bazookas, torpedoes and armour piecing bullets had to be developed to make sure that the Germans blitzkrieg didn’t over power.
-Jeeps developed to carry troops, was soon after humanized
-Tanks developed
-Radar developed, sonar invented
-Rocket propulsion developed by Germans
-Planes\bombers
-atomic bombs
-synthetic rubber
